The Bier Barrel Race is a fun and entertaining way for teams to compete, earn the bragging rights of being the winner and enjoy Oktoberfest all at once! Teams of 4 compete for fun, bragging rights & of course a trophy! The game is easy, two from each team must roll an empty barrel (keg) down and back and hand off to the next two of their team members. Those with the quickest time from all three legs of the race are the winners. Don’t laugh! It’s a lot harder than it sounds….
Registration is now open.

Sponsored this year by Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest!
Now, we don’t quite think that we’ll get into the Guinness Book of World Record holder, although we did come close at the 2012 Oktoberfest celebration! Ashley, from the Olympic Tavern (photo on right), was our Bier Maid Stein race winner. She carried the most mugs of bier at a count of 19!
Sign up for the Bier Maid Stein Race at our outside tent. The woman (or man) who spills the least amount of beer while carrying the most mugs from point A to Point B wins.

German Folk Dance and language lessons for children
– Saturday September 24th, 2016 at 2:30pm
Children, bring your parents to watch as you learn a traditional folk dance from one of our D’Waldstadttänzer German Folk Dance Group members. You will spend time learning the dance and then be invited to go inside to the main area to perform afterwards. Parents, bring your cameras! This is surely not to be missed. A donation of $1.00 per child will go to help the German Society’s D’Waldstadttänzer German Folk Dance Group to keep bringing traditional German folk dance to the Forest City and beyond. After the children dance inside, our instructor and dancers will invite any adults that wish to learn up on the dance floor for a quick lesson, and a fun time dancing with our experienced and talented folk dancers!
